I am a retired Building Inspector and have found that no Building Department Inspectors call out protection on the backside of installed electrical boxes during the framing inspection. The 1 1/4" distance to framing edge fro wiring AND boxes if within the 1 1/4". The boxes never get protected, why when this is a required code. I have installed protection on the boxes on the houses I build now, and showed my inspector and he was like " Great idea......but no one does that" but I left them off the next house and he didn't notice. Having consistency in the Code and more emphasis at this location would be huge....
