Does anyone know where i can find a sample contract to model my own after. I do not have a contract as of now, but i really do need one. I just dont know what all should be in it, or how to word it. Any resources would be greatly appreciated.

We used NEBS before the computer age. Here's an example of one of their generic proposals:

I read the Proposal from mikeholt.com and have a question about the Non-Compete Clause. Can someone help me understanding what they are saying by the Owner not being able to contract or employ and contractor or employee for 1 yr. Are they saying that the owner cannot contact another contractor for other work? I am confused by this.

Because IMO it helps maintain the integrity of the items under warranty. As a smart former operations guy, I'd comply, but most humans either don't read or don't care.

It is an attempt to keep the person hiring your firm to do electrical work from hiring your help out from under you.

I've seen many cases where an EC has lost their employees to a GC.

Whether or not that clause would stand up in court is another matter. It's best to speak to an attorney about it.

831 - I can only feel dumb for not asking - Whats IMO? Thanks to both of you for slearing that up. I would be upset if one of my guys were solicited for work by the owner or GC. This seems like a pretty solid Proposal. Would this be used as the contract or be used to prepsare a more formal contract? Most of my projects are smaller residential projects, I am thinking it would serve both for my needs.

Thanks for the info everyone. That is pretty much what I was looking for; just a few minor modifications and now I got myself a proposal/contract! My thanks to Mike Holt for his website also. Good stuff!

@ 1.5%, please PM me. I'd like to borrow a couple mill.

That 1.5% figure needs to be at least twice what money really costs.

If I had millions I would loan it to you in a heart beat at 1.5%.

Note that's 1.5% per month which is 18% per year. Good ROI I'd say.

I read thru that - refer to Payment Schedule. If anyone is acutally loaning money @ 1.5%, please PM me. I'd like to borrow a couple mill.

Isnt that 1.5%per month? APR about 18%?
