hi everyone, i recently got my masters license MD and looking to go in business on my own
any suggestions in good electrical costbooks.
thinking to get a book or two from BNI Building news
2023 BNi Building News Electrical Costbook over $170
any good book recommendations that information that i can trust to uses to make my estimates

With material costs changing frequently these days, I don't see how a printed book could be accurate from the date it was published.

I use software with quarterly updates and i see minor adjustments but I compared some recent things with some references I had printed out here and there and I don’t think it’s capturing things the way you would hope.

Cost works , I use it just for budgetary estimates. It covers all trades, may not be the best for the detailed electrical. I usually only use parts of it mixed with real quotes

It’s put out by rs means. Your right not a lot of info online. Looks like there pushing it as a online database mainly. Not alot of info about what I use which I think is the “CDs”

For residential it's simple enough to create your own spreadsheets to use for estimating. This topic has been posted on this forum in the past. Unfortunatley, there is no one size fits all for estimating. Some guys use flat rate prices and others use labor and materials. I can't believe the prices of those books!
