not recession proof, just better than many areas due to the amount of gov workers and also gov projects. there are a lot of guys out of work at the moment, regardless, and the residential guys are hurting, but not completly shut down like some other areas of the country. small resi remodelers are hurting very badly, but there is still work in wealthy neighborhoods. mall jobs are getting extremely competitive. gov work is getting more competitive. don't have any idea how service guys are doing.

We have had a serious inrush of electrical workers within the past year. Local IBEW 26 did post a lot still sitting on the bench. However, I do not see that. As an EI here my workload has doubled and we are seeking another EI. Now that was the positive note.....the negative side is I am seeing a lot of inexperienced non NEC educated installers on jobs lately and that is the downfall of a "Gold Rush" so to speak.

Ok, I found my thread!! Im happy to see at least part of the country (electrical wise) is getting some good work.

As for the Inrush of non code installers, Sounds like something to make a mandatory class for the NEC there. I feel all electricians should be understanding the current NEC at the time, and the inspectors need to be CONSISTANT and UNIFORM in enforcing the code. ;)

On a Side note, A MESSAGE TO THE MODERATORS I dont mind my thread being moved, just out of courtesy it wouldve been nice to have pm to know where my thread went. If nothing else someone could at least put a link to it in the 'Thread locked' post. I come back and my thread is gone and Im thinking 'what did I do wrong,?? I was asking 'electricallly related' topics.

My bad.....Anyway.....DC went from the 96' NEC to the 05' overnight so classes have begun and we are offering them as well. I am trying to coordinate with Brian Gaquin as well to instruct electrical safety, arc flash, etc. DC is growing way too fast for it's britches right now.

Out of courtesy it would be nice if you put your thread in the right forum to start with.

It definitely did not belong in the NEC forum.

Well sometimes its hard to tell where the topic is suppose to be (give me a break!). Not to mention, that more people actually go to the NEC forum than to other forums and from what Ive seen in the past is that if you want some knowledgable people to respond, then the NEC spot is the place to go.

As a matter of perspective, Just about ANY topic can be 'indirectly' associated with the NEC (its just matter of interpetation). As you can see where my post went to, dcinspector started talking about the NEC 96' to 2005, and installers not knowing the code in my thread.

It may not have been your intention iwire, but your comment came off as rather 'smartalecky' and uncause for, when all I asked for was a link or pm. My apologies if this topic was in the wrong forum.
