Have a maintenance shop with one electrician and 4 other maintenance men who work on cnc machines . We haven given rubber gloves to everyone to use if testing for voltage . I understand we are supposed to test these gloves every 6 months . Can't find anyone on the outside close by , can we test these ourselves using a portable glove inflator tester to satisfy OHSA ?

You can do it yourself, but the air test is only of of several tests that need to be performed.

For proper training and procedures for performing these tests, you have a bunch of material you can review.

Try:

NFPA 70E - Part II, Ch. 3-1. (RULES)
NFPA 70B (provides frequency and time frame of tests)
ASTM F496 (Standard for in-service care of gloves)
OSHA 1910.335(a), 1910.132(a), 1910.133, 1926.951(a) (RULES)

We test our own gloves, sleeves, and blankets. The glove tests are most interesting when the lights are turned out and you can see the corona dancing around the water.
