Thanks for the link. Have you read through it? I can't see any more than the heading of "historical outline" through google book. Might be too old for my library to have.

I have the book since it was required for the course and Attwood was the teacher and also head of the department.

Yes I read it and found it an interesting summary. Google books and their snippets are not very useful for extracting usable information from copyrighted material. However, if you click "about this book", next at the right side click on "find this book in a library", then you get a list of nearby libraries that have the book.

On Google books I found some out-of-copyright books on early electrical instruments from the 1800s that were fully readable online. Loading was slow.
