electrical licence

hi, everybody,
where an how can I get my electrical licence? I all ready have an electrical diplomas and I have some experience in residential wiring, commercial wiring and industrial wiring specialy motor controls.

Normally you have to work under a licenced contractor for a couple of years or so. Unless, you have an electrical engineering degree, then you might be able to talk some city or county into giving you one.

Where are you located. Members in your area will have more speciffic adice and tips.

In Ohio the engineers have to take the same test and show proof of insurance, we can just substitute 3 years of engineering experience for 5 years of field experience.

In Maryland you will need to work for seven years "under the direct supervision of a Master Electrician" and pass an examination. Formal training MAY be substituted for some of the experience, I believe a maximum of three years. Other states and jurisdictions vary. You will need to check with the area in which you wish to work.

Maybe try under a new post entitled, "Calling All Ohioians." You might get some more localized opinions, or better yet, actual facts. :grin: Contrary to certains posts, this forum does contain substantiated facts from time to time. :wink:
