Does anyone know where I can find in the NEC the definition of current carrying conductors? I have a system that will be in use for 44-48 minutes in one 24 hour duration. Is this clasified as a current carrying conductor?

The NEC has some clarifications about when a conductor has to be counted as a current-carrying conductor, in the context of derating. See 310.15.(B)(2)(a). But it does not define the phrase as an entitiy in itself. It also does not put a time constraint on the concept. For the 44-48 minutes you describe, the conductors do count as current-carrying conductors.

Welcome to the forum.

Charlie,

First of all Thank you for the welcome to the Forum. Great site learning how to navigate it. Thank you for your reply and yes I have visited those articles looking for a definition. Have another question, where can I find a chart to figure out how many conductors I can put into a 6X6X60 i seen the chart on Trade Boxes etc, nothing for Wireways or Raceway there 314.16 (A).

Look at 310.15(B)(4) for when the neutral counts as a CCC.

Wireways are in Articles 376 and 378.
