I’m working on a large-scale project that includes a medium voltage (MV) customer owned substation situated on a campus. The setup involves several manholes used to route MV feeders to multiple buildings. Within these manholes, there are metal racks designed to support the feeders, but no splices. My plan is to bond the metal supports to a 5/8-inch copper ground rod installed outside each manhole.
My question is about grounding requirements: Since this infrastructure is located 'on-campus', do I need to bond the ground rods back to the main service entrance ground? Or would the metal parts bonded to the ground rod be considered sufficient?
