Electrical outlet/garbage disposal installation.

I am looking at a housing project where the electrical outlet for the garbage disposal under the kitchen sink has been mounted directly behind the disposal, with a spacing between the two of about six inches. Seems like this should be a code violation. Certainly will make troubleshooting or properly wiring the outlet more difficult than is should have to be.

It is not a code violation. The code only addresses safety, and does not care about convenience.

It is simple to "twist & unlock" the disposal, if you take liability for proper reinstallation of the

disposal. If you don't remove the disposal it is sure to give you a crook in your neck. Plus it can

be hard to focus your eyes with drain pipe in the way. Too close, too far away a PITA.
