I am getting conflicting information from my contractor and my mechanical engineer regarding placements of electrical outlets in my living room. We have a 12 foot pocket sliding glass door and our engineer placed a floor outlet in the middle of the door area stating that it is considered a wall per NEC. My contractor is saying that only applies for fixed glass portion of the doors, so this would not apply. Can you please provide me with the code section that would clarify this, so I may have both parties read the correct section and agree on something. Thank you.

Assuming, by "contractor", you mean electrical contractor, have him fax a copy of 210.52(2)(2) to the ME.

The reference I have just given is from the 2005 NEC. Your electrical contractor will have to explain any local ordinance that applies, as well as what version of the NEC is enforced for the jurisdiction that your property is located in, if any.
