When I troubleshoot electrical problems, usually the symptons of the system indicate the source of the problem, and alot of checks and measurements can be avoided.
When the uncommon and strange problems arise, a systamatic process of elimination always works best for me. This will isolate proper operating components and usually identify the problem source.
Of course this process is different for each event and a stepped procedure is not always applicable or practical.
