Electrical room in Hazardous Area

Can we create MCC rooms into hazardous areas Zone-1 or Zone-2 or in process plant handling gas group IIA/IIB chemicals
2. If the above question is yes then what precautions we have to take for constructing a room in a hazardous plant area
3. Is there any rule or standard (IS / IEC / NEC / CEA / NFPA / Factory act etc) available for restricting or not construction of MCC room into a hazardous area

Often the room is build and purged and pressurized making the inside of the room non-hazardous.
I don't work with Zones, but I think they work like Divisions.
If you are going from Division 1 to non-hazardous you need to have an remote or explosion proof switch that will disconnect all power to the room if the pressure is lost.

Don has the right idea, although depending on the reason for classification it may not need to be purged/pressurized at all.

The basic standards are from the ISA but implementing them is nontrivial and best left to someone who already knows what needs to be done. It would be easy to miss something.
