I agree, provided that the working space is kept clear there is no code section that prohibits the use of an "electrical room" from also being used for storage.

I thought at one time that it said "rooms and spaces", but I have to agree that it's just spaces. I write the notice from time to time as a bluff when it's really bad and 9 out of 10 times they'll clean it up. How long it stays clean I don't know, but you get what you can.

Our local Fire Marshall takes care of that problem in our area. It's against the fire codes in NC to use an electrical room for storage.

That stuff is there for your use. You never know when you'll need one of those aluminum pans for a knockout seal
