Electrical safety program

We are currently trying to set up an electrical safety program as described in NFPA 70E. Listed below are the procedures we think we need to develop. I would appreciate comments or suggestions. What are other folks doing?

Electrical diagrams
Creating an electrically safe work condition
De-energizing electrical equipment
Developing work plans
Lock out tag out
Personnel protective grounds
Selecting and using voltmeters
PPE
Labeling
Switching normal and emergency
electrical test equipment & tools
energized electrical work permits
Conducting hazard/risk analysis
Conducting Flash hazard analysis
Working on or near energized electrical equipment
Working on or near energized conductors or live parts
480V MCC bucket install / removal
Working on Medium voltage MCC
GFI's testing
Temporary wiring
Electric welder / portable generators
4160V motor lock out
Batteries
Testing and inspecting electrical cables
Training and qualification
Electrical Start up and check out
electrical incident response
Auditing and record keeping
grounding and bonding audit

That certainly is a start. I hope Management has bought into the idea otherwise good luck getting them to budget the effort. Unfortunately, it usually take a serious injury to get their attention.

On the other hand, you could also be the whistle blower and turn them in to OSHA.:grin: That will certainly enhance your career.

We are moving forward on someone else?s misfortune. One of the other factory's just up road had a serous Arc flash accident recently. 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the chest and face.

Unfourtunatly when I was training companies on 70E compliance many of the calls I got were following an accident. I knew it as soon as they called, I would ask "What happened?" "Why do you ask?" "I have been doing this for a long time, what happened?" "Well, were were.........."
