Hi, I'm currently working on a 20 unit apartment complex that will require a service upgrade. The overhead service is protected by a 300 Amp/2 Pole main disconnect and serves 10 meters located on the north side of the building. Next to the main disconnect, there is a 150Amp/2Pole Disconnect that serve 10 meters on located on the south side of the building. If I upgrade the service, will it be required to provide a overcurrent device (for the meters located on the south side) at the main or can it be tapped?

If you keep two sets of service conductors each will need to be sized by the associated main.
You can do a load calculation for a set of service conductors to feed both mains and tap from those to each main.
Does that answer your question ?
