yeah. Actually I got a couple deals on a hole hawg and a band saw from there last week. Hole hawg was used but in great shape and the band saw was about 50 bucks cheaper than around here with free shipping to boot.

I bought a few pair on eBay. One was a Chinese pair for about 85 bucks. They lasted until the first time I cut some 200 amp SER, and the swing blade broke in half. Another Ideal brand pair arrived with obvious ACSR knicks. I resolved to just pay the 200 bucks or whatever for a new pair at the supply house. I worked for years and years with only long handled cutters. Once you get a good pair of ratchet cutters in your hand, the cost quickly becomes a secondary factor.

I've bought a few pairs of Greenlee's for under $200 from my regular supplier. I know they make more expensive pairs, but these have been fine. I use the big cutters for anything these can't handle.

I would really like to get some ideal ones but don't wanna pay through the nose. I might just settle for the greenlee cutters.

The 2 pairs of ideal's I have are not as good as the greenlee's. I'm sure ideal makes some better that what I had, though. Mine were about $250 10 years ago.

I have the Klein red handle ratchet cutters. Only pair I have needed so far. About $169 at MyToolStore.com

Am I the only one who uses a recip saw for this? It handles 4/0 SER without any problems, and I don't have to shell out $200 for another tool.
Just what I was thinking, I always have my Sawzall.:D

How's that workout in a section of switchgear?

I like to use a wood blade for copper and aluminum cables and conductors much faster than the fine tooth metal blades.

A porta band is even faster.

Oakey, that's awesome. I never even thought if using the circ saw!

How's it work out?
For things like 4/0 SEU or SER and the like... it cuts nice, quick and straight. Plus people like to watch me and say "is he really gonna cut it with that?" They are amazed it works so well

What if you don't have power and your batteries for your cordless are dead?? I didn't mean to turn this into a discussion on cable cutters. I know I can use my sawzall and I have many times. I was looking for a cheap place to purchase tools and E-bay has been the best so far on the internet that I have found.
