I wonder what those guys working on the high tension lines from a helicopter make per hour...

They're undoubtedly not worried about where their next pizza's coming from. :D

Gotta be real BIG buckaroos!

I watched "Most Shocking" on history earlier. It was pretty interesting.

And about the lineman,

Have you guys seen the show about lineman in alaska? It was on history or discovery. They work off ATV's w/ sleds. They don't have bucket trucks; 4 or 5 guys will pike the utility pole, then climb it. To dig the holes in permafrost, they use a jackhammer. I suspect they are well paid. It looks like a brutal job.

I don't know but after watching the show I am not so sure the pay matters.

The guy on the show had already been shocked, burned, heart stopped, revived with CPR and he went back to work after recovery.

It appears to me the guy is a serious adrenaline junkie and would do the job for the sheer thrill of it.

Yes I saw that, it was interesting.

If anyone has the Lineman's and Cableman's Handbook it shows how to set poles and lines with nothing more then some tools, ropes and manpower. No trucks at all.

I used to have an older version and it covered all kinds of stuff, there is a lot more to stringing lines then just planting some poles anywhere you want.
