Does anyone know if there exists a network version of the 2008 NEC for purchase.
I work with a group of 6 engineers and we have always shared a code book. I am hoping I could do the same with an electronic version. I would like to purchase one license and have access to it at any of the engineer's desks, one at a time of course (just like the hard copy!)
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can purchase a single license for the NFPA subscription service, which gives you searchable access to all NFPA codes and standards.
You can purchase a PDF version of the NEC alone, and place it on your network to share.
You could just use the free NEC access from the NFPA website, but it is not searchable, you need to go to the page/topic you want.

The earlier (2002) electronic versions of the NEC could be installed on a network.
05 could not be installed on a computer at all and had to be left in the CD drive, although you could make an image file.
The 08 NEC can be installed on two computers.
And the PDF version would be an option, not sure what the copy right restrictions are on it.

The .pdf version, while useful, is still no match for the NEC CD using Volio Views.

With Volio Views, you can enter a word or phrase, and it will tell you where each instance occurs. You can then select which Code Article you want that best suits what you're looking for. With Adobe, you must go fromthe first, to the next, to the next, to the next..... until you find the one you want.

The CD version also contains hyperlinks where appropriate. If one Code Section refers to another, the reference is highlighted as a link, and you can go right to it. You can also then link back to where you started out.

Tables are another plus..... with pdf files, if the table is too tall for your screen, the headers simply scroll off the top. Not so with the CD..... the headers stop and the top of the screen and the data below scrolls on past. So you don't have to jump up and down to read the bottom of a table.

You can also bookmark, highlight and make your own notes.

No comparison, IMPO.
