What does the NEC Code state about work place safety and requiring a separate ground system for ESD?

All ESD industry standards that I can find use a single point ground with the electrical system. Corporate safety has mandated separate grounding for ESD versus electrical equipment grounding.

Many of us are concerned that this can be just as dangerous if an ESD workstation and electrical equipment are not at the same potential.

I believe the standards for ESD grounding and bonding are dictated by NFPA standards apart from the NEC. At the moment I can't recall which standard. We do alot of it where I work.
