Good day,
Working on an existing 8 story hotel with an existing EXTERIOR generator. We are completely renovating the EM systems (currently only 1 ATS).
We will be installing 3 new ATS's.
ATS-1 serving emergency egress lighting, FA, etc.
ATS-2 serving 1 of the 3 elevators - Legally required system
ATS-3 all optional loads
Situation No.1 - NFPA 110 - 2005 chapter 7 will require these EPSS equipment in a separete room from the Normal Service equipment (existing 277/480 system above the 150v to ground and over 1000 amps). Since the EPS (generator) is outside what does the my new EM room housing the EPSS (ATS's) need for a fire rating?
Also we would like to locate ATS-2 for the elevator on the 8th floor adjacent to the elevator room. Fire rating of this room? I don't have NFPA at home today but I think it states 2 hour.... but that is when the EPS is in the room. Here we have the EPS outside.
Situation No.2 - The feeders for the ATS-1 and ATS-2 - do they need a be fire protected. It is a high rise - NEC 700.11. I don't have the NEC at home but I know something is in it.
