Elevator Hoistway Recp. Is it Required?

One engineer stated that in addition to the pit receptacle a GFCI receptacle needs to be installed between the pit and the 6th floor in the hoistway. I can't find any thing on this ruling; does any one have information on it?

I reviewed ANSI 17.1, 1996, and find no requirement for receptacles in a hoistway. I suggest you ask the engineer for a code reference.
