Does the requirements for elevator installation apply equally to an installation in a single family dwelling as it does in a public space?
What sort of things need to be looked out for that might be different?
Beyond NEC other codes effect such installation?

Residential elevators might be manufactured under different Listing requirements than commercial ones. Many residential units do not even require dedicated 'shafts' or smoke handling found with commercial ones. For sure I would be checking the local building codes.

This is not one of those secondary installed handicap chair lift type that is totally factory built and installed in an existing dwelling, this is new construction with shaft built center of new home so wasn't sure. Currently all that is present is the framed shaft space and pit. Would it be Otis or company like them be responsible for meeting most of the requirements? Not sure any of our local AHJ would know as their are almost no elevators around here, commercial or otherwise.

A friend of mine here owns an elevator service and installation company. In a case like yours, he would tell you how much power he needs where and he would do the rest. Of course, we have minimal inspections here.

I've wired a bunch of elevators.

Almost every one has been top mounted equipment, with a service area immediately next to the shaft.

Service area needs:
2-pole 30 amp circuit landed in a 3-pole fusible disconnect.

1-pole 15 amp circuit landed in a 1-pole fusible disconnect, dedicated circuit

1 hardwired phone jack

Shaft needs:

1-gfci protected receptacle at top, and another at bottom

1 thin surface-mounted light at top, and another at bottom

Can be on any circuit

One thing, though.
Not every control panel is the same size and orientation, and the service areas are not all alike. Therefore, I insist on a meet with the elevator tech, so he can tell me exactly where he wants disconnects placed
