Elevator inspection

Recently completed an elevator machine room install on my current project. The closet is tight so I had to stack my disconnects on vertical strut mounted from floor to ceiling. I've done many elevator jobs but this was probably the tightest as far as space. My 120 volt car light disco is high and is fed from the floor above. The 600 volt disco for the controller is next and is fed from the floor below. I have a close nipple between the two. From the bottom of the 600 volt disco I piped to a 4 square for the closet light and machine room gfci. Power for the room light and recep comes from the upper 120 volt conduit through the car and machine disconnect into 4" square and switch leg goes back up out the top of cab disconnect to the light fixture.

The elevator guy told me I'd have to redo it all because I can't run the recep and light circuits through the disconnects and I said no way. Then he tells me the inspector will fail it because he won't like it. I said if the inspector can cite any violations I'd happily change it. I don't mind being wrong but I don't see any glaring NEC violations so I was wondering if anybody has any input on any supplemental rules I may not be aware of. Thanks for putting up with the long winded post

In my area it would not be the electrical inspector failing this work it would be the elevator inspector.

That said, if the elevator guys don't like something we do we will be changing it. They always win.

We sometimes get extras to make the changes but either way the changes happen.

That's been my experience as well but I'm making a stand on this one. It will be an elevator inspector. If he gives me any trouble I'll just bring up the ungrounded secondary on their transformer in the closet. Apparently this is how they've always done it so I just walked away. I was just wondering what kind of bogus citation he may cite because the installation is 100% compliant as far as I know. Everything is 600 volt rated and all my bonding is in place where the connections are impaired

A citation to elevator code rule(s) not duplicated in the NEC would not be bogus, but would have to be explicit unless the EC contains a catch all "workmanship" clause.
Best of luck in your endeavor!
