Does the elevator machine room lighting need to be fed from a dedicated circuit? NEC 620 is not really clear...

620.23 Branch Circuits for Machine Room or Control Room/Machinery Space or Control
Space Lighting and Receptacle(s).
(A) Separate Branch Circuit. A separate branch circuit shall supply the machine room or
control room/machinery space or control space lighting and receptacle(s).

Seems clear

If lights're at 277V operating, should we provide one dedicated 277V circuit for lights + one dedicated 120V circuit for receptacles inside machine room? Seems odd to me.

Check your fixtures, I will bet they have ballasts that can take 120 or 277.
