These pictures are part of my earlier post on open wiring. I have been told that there is not a problem with open wiring. These pictures are of a battery light. To me, the real emergency is the fact that the armored cable is not bonded to the J-box. If you look closely, you will see that there is no J-box.

The fixture is plastic. If there is a fault, where would the 120v potential go?

300.15 requires a box where conductors are spliced or terminated so open wiring is not permitted. Also in the pictures the AC cable is not properly connected to the fixture with a proper connector. The sheath of AC cable is the EGC so with a plastic enclosure there is no way to ground the fixture if the fixture is equipped with a wire or EGC terminal.
