Question I am doing a service change. We are on the 2020 code. I have my emergency disco outside for the fire department and inside I have my electrical panel with main breaker. So I’m only using the outside disco for emergency purposes only. My question is since the panel is a main breaker panel. Does my water bond and ground rod conductor need to go outside or stay at the main panel? I figure since the outside disco is only for emergency purposes only and I still have a main panel it should go to the main panel. What do you all think?

The GEC can terminate anywhere upstream from the service disconnect to the service point. What is the reason you chose to go with an emergency disconnect on the outside and not make that the service disconnect?

No reason really to be honest. I could of gone with a sub panel and typically do. I just didn’t this time.

I believe if he still only has a 3 wire run to the inside then the disconnect outside is an emergency disconnect and not service equipment
