Is it allowable, per NEC to tap onto exit sign circuits to power an alarm circuit. We are wanting to put sirens on these doors to keep people from propping them open and I've tried the battery operated ones, but a 100 db just doesn't get it.

Thanks Jim, was hoping not run 14 more circuits for something that isn't going to help anyway. Still gonna be about 500 dollars a door. They just never learn. BTW, I sure hope the beach will be ok by this fall. I need a vacation.

Are the exit signs equipped as unit equipment or are then on an emergency circuit that falls under Article 700.

If the exit signs are fed from an Article 700 emergency system such as a generator then you could not supply non-emergency loads from the emergency power circuit.

If the exit signs are unit equipment then there is no restrictions to what loads could be added to the branch circuit that supplies the unit equipment equipped exit signs.

Not betting on it staying clean

Am assuming your exits are battery back up.
If its 14 doors i would suggest suggest some alarm type switches and just 1 huge siren
