Is it permissible to connect an emergency HVAC system to a UPS already powering emergency lighting. Based on my understanding, this is acceptable since both systems are classified as emergency loads and the UPS is an independent emergency power source.

I am referring to NFPA 70, Articles 700.1, 700.2, 700.12 and 700.15. In addition to NFPA 110.

I doubt that the HVAC is an Article 700 load. Maybe an Article 701 load, but not an Article 700 life safety load.

I agree with Don.

Are you aware of a building code, local code, or requirement from any other authority that declares that this type of HVAC equipment shall be powered by an emergency source? If not, then it's not article 700.
