Hi All

I'm curious if emergency lighting fixtures need to have battery back-up in addition to being connected to the emergency generator ???? The generator ATS is set to transfer at 8 seconds, if that helps in the answer....

I always understood means of egress illumination required to be lit within 10 seconds under the building code if powered by emergency generator. I think you're ok, but check with your fire marshal to make sure you don't step on anyone's toes.

If your "emergency generator" is a compliant Article 700 system, then no. If your generator is actually an Optional Standby Art. 702 system, then yes, as this from a code standpoint is not an emergency system.
