An office building consists of an emergency generator, automatic transfer switch and an emergency lighting electrical panel. Certain LED lighting fixtures that are designated as "emergency lighting" are connected to the emergency lighting electrical panel. How should the wiring diagram look if these 'emergency lighting' fixtures were switched (connected to a normal on/off switch)?

Taking into consideration the client's budget issues, the electrical engineer in-charge of this project tried to cut costs by making all these 'emergency lights' un-switched and calling them out as 'EM/Night Lights' on the plans. I am asking about the wiring diagram to better understand the other scenario, i.e. the switched emergency lighting. Thank you.

Look at the wiring diagram on the Bodine GTD device in the thread Dkidd mentioned.

The basic idea is to just place a contactor across the on/off switch to bypass it during a power outage.

I think the Bodine GTD has a few other features, so the wiring diagram looks a little more complex.
