Does anyone know the requirements for emergency battery lighting in a commercial building as far as placement i didnt see it in nec

The location for emergency lighting comes from the building codes not from the NEC.

There are alot of things that determine when and where emergency lighting is required. Occupant load is probably the biggest factor.

I would recommend contacting your local building department.
