Hi,
I have a large banquet hall with occupancy load: 950 people
plan checker says: I may have to provide emerg. back up generator or invertor for emergency, egress lighting.

upto how many people, occupancy load , I can provide just units (bug-eyes) throughout.. as emergency lighting????????

Thank you

Not an expert but I think once the occupant load is more than 50 emergency lighting is required.

In my area we could certainly use bug eyes to do it and that would likely have the least installation cost. Its effectiveness and long term upkeep are another story entirely.

I suspect a large place like that will require come ceiling mount units to get the light everywhere.

yes , thats true
but when you have large occupancy, you can not use battery/ballast units attached to lights

In fact we can do just that here in MA, RI and CT.

I have worked in a 10,000 seat concert venue that is entirly lit with 'bug eye' battery units on the ceilings, walls and columns. No inverters, no generators.

This one ...

That is why I strongly suggest to find out if it is a written requirement or just someones idea of better.
