I have emergency generator that has 600A breaker 480/277V three phase which feeds following:
1. Emergency 400A panelboard A 480/277V main breaker
2. Thru 200A feeder breaker in emergency panelboard A to transformer to 400A 208/120V emergency panelboard B
Their is no ground fault protection automatic or no ground fault detection provided in the generator emergency breaker 600A.
However the 400A 480/277V and the 400A 208/120V emergency panelboard main breakers have automatic ground fault protection built in the main breaker.
Questions:
1. Is there anywhere in code it says if emergency panelboards main breakers do not have ground fault protection one requires ground fault detection for less than 1000A?
2. I dont see why emergency 400A 480/277v panelboard main breaker have ground fault protection and so does emergency panelboard 400A 208/120V. All are less than 1000A and the 208/120V is not even more than 150volts. Is there anything that says anything about providing or prohibiting it?
