Emergency stops

Is it required for a "reset" to be pressed after an "E-stop" has been depressed. We have several pieces of equipment that actually use the red mushroom-head style switches for on/off control. I thought this was against OSHA regulations for equipment to automatically restart just by pulling the button out again.

Re: Emergency stops

It depends.

If you are referring to a machine covered under NFPA79, and this is truely an emergency stop as defined there, this is indeed a requirement.
