The Empire State Building is known for being bathed in glorious light - but no artificial glow could compare with the stunning lightning bolt that struck the skyscraper yesterday. The building gets jolted about 100 times a year, but few bolts are as eye-popping as yesterday's - captured by photographer Susana Bates.

I read open report that claimed the Empire State Building was once struck over 25 times by separate and distinct stokes in just one storm several years ago!

Nice job.
I am sure that anyone around this area really had fun watching this storm roll through...in just minutes it did a lot of damage around my area...almost 20,000 people lost power and the storm lasted just a few minutes as it blew through.

We're not used to tornado-producing storm cells in the Northeast. First cow I see spinning through the air clockwise and I am outta here!
