EMT is being used indoors, above grade and exposed to provide raceways for a water filtration plant (pumps, controls, etc.). The plant turns river water into drinking water. The building is well ventilated. All of the conduit on the packaged water filter modules is EMT. Some chlorine is injected into the water as required for water quality. NEC 2005 358.10 mentions "severe corrosive influences" and "judged suitable for the condition" but the NEC does not define these terms. Has anyone run into approval problems when using EMT in this kind of environment?

Re: EMT & Corrosion

Yep. I work for a municipality and install/maintain wiring in chlorine rooms, both gas and solution.
A good product is PVC, but it takes care to install and can be damaged. As an alternative to PVC consider fiberglass.
