I have a large fire suppression room with our fire pump, transfer switch, fire suppression panel, and fire alarm panel located inside.
Our specification prohibits EMT use in this room. We must use the 2008 code. I have been looking for a code reference that will back up the specification NOT allowing EMT in the Fire Suppression Room. No luck. Can anyone guide me in the direction of such code reference. if one exists?

Thank you!

The NEC allows EMT in a fire pump room but job specifications can ask for gold plated RMC if that is what the designer wants.

I believe the 2011 NEC had a change in 695 code allowing EMT under uses permitted for "fire pumps". EMT was not permitted in 2008 NEC for fire pumps, but nothing I know of in NEC ever prohibited EMT for other circuits within the pump room. As a contractor I might question if the intent of the spec was intended for the pump wiring only, or ALL wiring. Large room, ATS, FACP.... That could add up cost.

After seeing jtrezon's post, I re-read the OP and realized he's on the 2008 code. You can't use EMT for the pump conductors, or even for control wiring.

I did not say the fire pump could be wired with EMT, I said that EMT can be used in the fire pump room. The OP has a lot more than a fire pump in that room. :)
