EMT plastic bushings

Does the code require plastic bushings to be installed in EMT? I can't locate where is says but another section of the code says conductors shall be protected from abrasion.

If the EMT contains conductors #4 or larger the conductors must be protected by a substantial fitting providing a smoothly rounded insulating surface.

Take a look at 300.4(G).

Generally for smaller than #4 conductors the bushing can be made solely of metal.
