Have (3) feeders going to an electrical closet. Have about 50 closets. Only one end is an electric closet. The entire run is EMT but the portion in the closet HAS to be RGS.
The portion in the closet is just where it pokes in then goes down about 4’ to the panel. It seems ridiculous to have to switch over from EMT to RGS for that very small section in the closet.

Have you guys ever had to do this? Anyway around this?

We've had similar spec's for mechanical rooms. Just use a proper fitting to change from EMT to RMC.

Agree but if the run is short, say 50', I'd be inclined to use RGS the entire run but not sure that make sense if it's easy to switch over with a coupling I assume.

OK, this is one where some of us may do something under board. In most cases the spec infinity refers to is somewhat generic, or it states below a certain footage, etc. Often 8ft. I have seen (so I am not admitting to personally doing this) this ignored above the panel from the 6.5 feet to the 8 feet. I have actually seen it completely ignored. So, you have options. Ignore the short change over, (plead ignorance and ask forgiveness if caught) or write and RFI and offer a minor credit to not install RGS above the tops of the panels.

code wise, switching over requires a listed transition coupling they are not cheap, but still cheaper than running rigid.
