EMT vs RMC

Hi Folks,
For conduit installation within a building where the conduit would be running exposed, is EMT normally sufficient? It appears that galvanized rigid conduit may be an overkill for most indoor applications, considering that it is more expensive per unit length while EMT is easier to install.

Look at your bid spec. .

IMO in 99% of the indoor installations it's overkill to use RMC. Some buildings have specifications for RMC where below 8' and exposed. Personally unless there's vehicle traffic or forklifts or other moving machinery EMT is just fine.

I’ve never seen rigid conduit come apart above a drop ceiling, I see EMT apart all the time.

That is due to sloppy workmanship.
Rigid, ever see what it looks like when installed by people who don't know how? Bowing from over tight or loose fit?
Cost of rigid over emt is high.
I have run miles of both including plastic coated.

Y'all would have loved my old journeyman. The few times we were on jobs where it was speced he would get giddy. He actually loved running it. He was nuts. He was a good journeyman but nuts.
