I just installed a circuit for an air conditioner and I used EMT instead of PVC due to length and I didn't want it to sag from the heat of the sun. I fished in a NM-B from the panel down to a 1/2" plastic bell box. Then EMT from there to a metal 60 amp non fused pull out disconnect. I installed a equipment grounding conductor to the disconnect. I just used regular locknuts in the disconnect. Is this gonna fly as far as grounding the EMT is concerned?

Doubtful but not for the reason you are asking about.

314.3 Nonmetallic Boxes. Nonmetallic boxes shall be permitted only with open wiring on insulators, concealed knob-and-tube wiring, cabled wiring methods with entirely nonmetallic sheaths, flexible cords, and nonmetallic raceways.

Exception No. 1: Where internal bonding means are pro-vided between all entries, nonmetallic boxes shall be permitted to be used with metal raceways or metal-armored cables.

Exception No. 2: Where integral bonding means with a provision for attaching an equipment bonding jumper inside the box are provided between all threaded entries in nonmetallic boxes listed for the purpose, nonmetallic boxes shall be permitted to be used with metal raceways or metal-armored cables.

Leave it in, most inspectors like the redundancy of having a ground wire installed. And from actual experience its best that you leave it in and connected, as many times from age the EMT and fittings will become loose or oxidize enough to create a resistive ground path that can cause excessive heat/fire if fault occurs.

Good to know. I was going to leave it in anyway. It's only about 30 feet.
