Trying to monitor an enclosure temperature with 4-20 output? Something small, din rail mounted, maybe?

We have this duct monitor to use, but I figured there's a more compact internal means of accomplishing this. Anything you've used or seems before that will get it done?

Nice, thanks. I'm more looking g for something that doesn't have to penetrate the box. At least that's only one hole, though.

I'm still looking, too, when I can. Keep the ideas coming

You could put the whole thing in the enclosure and just run the cable to the monitoring equipment.

Omega has din rail mounted transmitters, but you would have to add a TC or RTD sensor and connect it to the transmitter.

Yea then I could just put a little thermocouple wire on it and move it around if needed. Thanks.

Are you monitoring or just logging temps ? because there are dedicated temperature logging devices out there too.

I would think a simple RTD device would be a good solution also, as pointed out above...

I have been known to put rtds inside enclosures for such purposes.

It kind of depends on why you are doing it but most of the time I just use a temperature switch since I don't care what the actual temperature is, only that it is too hot or too cold. Hoffman and others make DIN rail mounted switches suitable for such use.

Thanks for the replies, yall. Ended up mounting it on the rail and just keeping an eye on the temps because the box has a power supply, 3 Siemens S7 1200 plc's, and an HMI on the door. We are running a Vortec air cooler on it, too, to help fight the temp. Between the 3rd floor boiler house heat outside and the plc's creating heat inside, that cooler is going to be working full time. Actually commissioning one of the air dryers today. I will let yall know how it works out
