Has anyone heard of energy controllers by KVAR? Supposedly it's connected to a home or commercial load or panel and slows down the meter when using inductive loads? Does this thing work? And if so, how?

Wow, this just keeps popping up. I think this is like the 20th post in 6 months. Maybe we need to have a sticky at the top of a few sections to refer them to the threads where this has been discussed in detail. It just seems like the sales force for this product is in high speed and we're going to keep getting these questions from people.

As long as you can find people willing to take snake oil you will find people willing to sell it to them.
I just did a Google search for "snake oil." Among other entries, I was given four places at which I can get snake oil at bargain prices.

And in many cases the folks looking for a "FRE LUNCH" could make some changes in their electricity usage and save money in lieu of looking for the magic bullet.

But just a DIET pills sell off the shelf for those not willing to change eating habits and workout, these devices will sell for those HOPING to save money without lower T-stats, buy CFLs, and make their kids turn off the lights.
