Enphase Q-Cable

Hi again,

I unexpectedly have another question to ask today.

When doing de-rating calculations, do you generally count the Q-Cable as two wires or one wire? In the technical brief, it says "Q-Cable is a single-phase, two-line conductor cable with integrated AC connectors..."

Q-Cable is classified as "DG Cable" (Distributed Generation). I've ever heard of this before --maybe this is a new classification? (apparently it's based off the construction specifications of TC-ER cable)

Although the Q-Cable contains two, AWG #12, 19 strand, THWN-2 copper wires, I'm apprehensive to count this setup as two wires, because both are encased in a type of thermoplastic, making it appear as one. This whole question stems from the scenario where I have two Q-cable conductors in a 3/4" EMT raceway. Not sure if I should de-rate by 0.8.

Thoughts?

Andy
