Forgive me, I've searched threads but can't seem to find what I think I saw before.

ENT or smurf is listed for in concrete walls and floors.....and thus ok for use in Faswall ICF type "forms" that are concrete filled.

Looking at Article 362 it can NOT be direct buried (OK, not planned) and I thought it could not be in a wet environment....which I thought slab on/below grade was. In particular, I want to use smurf in Faswall foundation walls, below grade (just mentioning the slab because I don't see anything about foundation walls). I know the smurf would be fine above grade.....question is is it ok in the foundation walls?

I seem to recall discussion that says it is not ok below grade, but haven't been able to find it.....and my reading of 362.10(7) says I'm good to go?

Thanks for the help!

These are from the handbook. 2014 if the paragraph is readable.
The handbook is only a guide to understanding cannot be used as code verification.

Thanks....I'm reading it that I'm good to go, but thought there was something about below grade....like smurf is ok on upper floors, but not on floor with ground contact.....my imagination?

362.10 Uses Permitted....(7)-"For wet locations indoors as permitted in this section or in a concrete slab on or BELOW GRADE, with fittings listed for the purpose"

Are the usual smurf fittings ok? and although it doesn't say walls.....seems to say it's ok....

thanks guys!

Probably be callling AHJ for their interpretation here in Portland, OR

...(6) also allows for use in a slab on grade - and doesn't specify it needs to be and indoor slab.

362.12(4) uses not permitted, just says direct earth burial

From the UL White Book for Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing (FKHU).
ENT with mechanical fittings identified for the purpose or with cemented-on fittings is suitable for use in poured concrete.
ENT with cemented-on PVC fittings is suitable for use in:

1. Indoor locations where walls are frequently washed, and
2. Concrete slabs in direct contact with the earth.

bullseye.
what we think here is nice and all.... but we aren't signing your ticket. :happyyes:

i've smurfed a lot of slabs on grade, and the issue has never come up,
if it's in concrete, nobody seems to much care what the concrete is in
contact with.

the difference in cost pretty much makes smurf click fittings a fail over
regular couplings and glue for most folks. they are a fair bit more, iirc.
