Is anyone familiar with the EPCOT code in Florida? I just heard about it and was wondering how it compares to the NEC.

There really isn't an Epcot Electrical Code. The Epcot Code references the 2002 NEC...

...By the way, the Reedy Creek Improvement District (Disney) was the area where the NFPA 5000 was developed.

Sounds a little Mickey Mouse to me.

ha. ha.

:)

I guess somebody had to go there.

You know Tom Henry and Jim Fields (works for TH) were Disney's own electrical inspectors before going into the code training business. They were both on the EPCOT project as well.

That is Jim Lewis. He has since retired and now lives in the Philipines. Tom and Jim primarily worked on the monorail system, but also worked in the parks themselves as well.

LEWIS!! that's it. After posting I thought that name didn't sound right.

I remember Jim saying he and Tom did a lot of work at the epcot center as well. Seems like he said they had a lot of long days there.

I was wondering what happened to him. I noticed on Tom's website neither he or Jim were doing seminars anymore. Looks like the son is doing all of them now.

I've been to Tom Henry's place near Orlando, I went there for the journeyman's exam prep. Anyway I met Tom himself onsite but his son did the teaching. I really enjoy his books but I have an exam prep book from Mike Holt as well. I'm not sure whose style of writing I prefer, on one hand I like Tom's because he seems to anticipate the questions an inexperienced or lesser educated electrician may have and explain things in such a manner that they can understand. Mike's writing is more, I think, to the point and I really like his diagrams, you really can't go wrong with either author.
