So I'm trying to get out of something I did not fugure and the GC is saying I owe.
It's the installtion of the hand dryer.
The drawing says to make an electrical connection to hand dryer.
I only figure an electrical connection but I guess one could argue that if you connecting the power your also installing.
You can't do one without doing the other.
THere are A LOT of them and the time I figurd for the connection is a little light.
Yes I proably should have figured the install.
THink I have any case in getting paid to install the hand dryers?

Thanks.

I would say that "making an electrical connection" means landing the circuit wires on their terminals. The GC wants you to "install the dryers" which is clearly not the same thing.

He could argue that you have to build the wall the service equipment is attached to in order to "install the service equipment" because you can't install it without a wall being there.

Offer to price the job. I would not do it free.

Well I'm glad to hear that. But I'm sure they are going to arguing that I'm essentially installing the hand dryer when I'm making the connection. How could you not install the dryer when making the connection.

Of course they want it done free. Who wouldn't? They can argue it. That doesn't make it your obligation.

How much other equipment did you wire that you didn't have to install? HVAC comes to mind.

Tell Mr. Cheapskate that you will connect the power after whoever is getting paid to hang the dryers does so.

Added: If they press the issue, it becomes a legal matter, which means the contract language prevails.

In my opinion, it says what I said it says in my first response.

Thank you, appreciate it.
