NEC, Section 250.30(A) states "A grounding connection shall not be made to any grounded circuit conductor on the load side of the point of grounding of the separately derived system except as otherwise permitted in this article." What section of the NEC requires the exception in this design?

So that means if the system is not separately derived (has a permanent non switched grounded nuetral), than the system nuetral can be bonded to the water pipe (the same water pipe the equipment ground is connected to) as well as being grounded to the grounded electrode system noting that the water pipe must be 10' 6" underground I beleive it is.

Re: Equipment bonding conductor connected to water pipe

Since you are clearly using the 2005 NEC, you will find the answer to your first question in the Fine Print Note (FPN) that follows 250.30(A).

As to your second question, if you are not looking at a Separately Derived System, then Article 250.30 would not apply. The general rule is that you bond Netural to Ground at one location only.
