escalator disconnecting means location

Hi...I am replacing some escalators and have a question about where the disconnecting means called for in 620-51 is required to be. The existing escalators are fed from an MCC disconnect that is lockable...is this sufficient or do I need to put a disconnect in the pit near the controller too? The NEC doesn't say to put it at the pit, from what I see.

620.51(C) has a lot to say about the location. Much depends on the types of elevator components. Look through that section, and let us know if you still have a question.
